KUOK MENG WEI
Meng Wei is the managing director and co-founder of K2. He manages the corporate & day-to-day operations where his responsibilities include strategy & corporate planning, originating and assessing market opportunities, execution of strategy & business plans, customer engagement and a key focus: capital budgeting.
Prior to his role at K2, Meng Wei served various roles with the Kuok Group of companies. He was Executive Director of Wilmar Investment Holdings between 2011 to 2014, where he oversaw the company’s investment into Agriculture assets (plantations and processing facilities), infrastructure (Thilawa Port, Yangon), joint ventures activities in Myanmar.
He has also held numerous roles in other Kuok companies including, South China Morning Post, AllgreenProperties, Kerry Logistics and Shangri-La Hotels. For his contributions to civil society, he was nominated into the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders in 2015.
With his extensive knowledge and experience, Fred has played a leading role in the design and construction of more than 10 mega-data centres (10 to 60MVA) and undertook critical projects & assignments in his career in the last decade.
He leads all K2 Data Centres internal technical designs, project delivery and steers operational competencies in a global level.
LAURA LEI ZHANG
General Manager, Greater China
With the goal of growing K2 business, Laura mainly focuses on business expansion inbound and outbound of Greater China, formation and strengthening of partnerships with strategic Chinese partners and local governments, generating plans and activities to secure the business with success.
Laura’s forte in start-up business, integrating resources to achieve targets in Internet and telecom industries with her experience from previous roles as managing director of China Mobile International UK and Vice President for Asia of HGC Global.
Fred graduated from the University of Sussex with a MEng degree in electrical and electronic engineering. An electrical engineer with extensive experience working on major mission critical projects across UK and Europe, Fred’s career has seen him performing an increasingly responsible role in the design and construction of many hyper-scale data centres and mission critical projects. Fred is extensively knowledgeable in high resilience MV & LV power systems design and protection. His responsibilities have seen him working directly with the project directors managing project delivery, meeting technical design requirements and managing project resource.
At K2, Fred provides technical direction to the project design teams to ensure that K2 facilities not only meet our requirements, but also the specific requirements of our customers.
KUAN ZHAN PENG
ZP is a member of the board of directors and one of the founders of K2. He manages the corporate & day-to-day operations where his responsibilities include strategy & corporate planning, originating and assessing market opportunities, execution of strategy & business plans, customer engagement and a key focus: capital budgeting.
Prior to K2, he was part of the Special Projects team under the KSL Group to pursue radical business opportunities outside the Group’s core businesses. He also spent time with the Group’s offshore marine business, covering international business development opportunities (such as the POSH Saudi JV) and investor relations. ZP spent his early career in corporate finance roles within Standard Chartered Bank and DBS Bank.
ANAND TZE MING CHANDRAN
Corporate Strategy & Development
Anand joined K2 in 2020 and leads Corporate Development & Strategy and is focused on building K2’s strategic capabilities in areas that include market entry, M&A, partnerships, renewable energy and project execution.
Prior to joining K2, Anand held business and market development roles covering multiple markets across Asia with the Shangri-La Group (a Kuok Group company) and Yum! Brands. This followed several years in investment banking (M&A and ECM advisory) covering Southeast Asia. Anand begun his career with Singapore Airlines in Corporate & Structured Finance. Anand has a BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics, an MSc in Development Economics from the University of Oxford and a Masters in Professional Accounting from the Singapore Management University.
With a wealth of knowledge and expertise, Ciaran provides leadership and project management for start-up of new data centre facilities and upgrade existing data centre facilities, monitoring and troubleshooting of all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, voice/data, chiller systems and generators, assisting in the operation, and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the datacentre.
With over 20 years experience in the construction industry spanning across Ireland, Scotland and the USA, he has worked for several well-known organizations such as Amazon, Johnson Controls / Microsoft account and the Main Electrical Supply Board (ESB) through a HV/MV company based in Ireland. He has also been involved in a variety of projects across various sectors including datacentres, pharmaceutical, commercial and windfarms.
